(1) Groundnut Oil
Groundnut is called as the ‘King’ of oilseeds. It is one of the most important food and cash crops of our country. While being a valuable source of all the nutrients, it is a low-priced commodity. Groundnut is also called as wonder nut and poor men’s cashew nut. Groundnut is one of the most important cash crops of our country. The filtered refined oil is used for cooking and in making margarine. Peanut oil is important food oil. The oilcake is used as fodder. The protein in peanuts is used in the manufacture of ardil, a synthetic fibre. The vegetable ghee is made from the peanut oil after hydrogenation.

Uses:
The peanuts (seeds) are used for roasting or salting and for the preparation of peanut butter. Peanuts are a very nutritious food. One lb. of peanuts yields 2700 cal.

Groundnut shells account for approximately 20% of the dried peanut pod by weight, meaning there is a significant amount of shell residual left after groundnut processing. Increased groundnut production leads to the accumulation of these groundnut shells which is not utilized, thus either burnt or buried. As Groundnut shells are rich in many functional compounds and composed of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, it can be utilized in multiple ways. This review highlights potential applications of groundnut shells for commercial and industrial purposes. Groundnut shells can be converted in various bio-products such as biodiesel, bioethanol, nano-sheet and also has applications in enzyme and hydrogen production, dye and heavy metal degradation etc. An efficient management strategy is required to convert this otherwise considered waste into valuable bio- products to achieve zero waste production system.

(2) Groundnut De-Oiled Cake/Meal
Groundnut cake is a by-product obtained after extraction of oil. Groundnut De-oiled Cake is generally a safe feed for all classes of livestock. The use of groundnut de-oiled cake has no general limitations in Livestock/Animal Feeding. The Cake has been used a protein supplement in Cattle Feed, Poultry Feed, Piglet Feed, Aqua/Fish Feed.

The Cake has several health benefits and serves as the perfect balanced diet for the Cattle. It has an optimal blend of protein carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals in the pellet-formed compound. Groundnut meal helps in increasing the milk production capacities of the Cattle. Groundnut meal is highly nutritious and makes a perfect animal feed.
